Why Should You Schedule Your Spoons?

Do you feel like you're forever choosing between being productive & your energy levels?

Are there times when you struggle to figure out what to do next? Great!!! Me too! Hi! I’m Amanda, fellow spoonie & CEO of The Copperless Chick, & like you, I struggled to get everyday tasks done with my newfound illness & disability. I searched for the right planner, thinking this one would finally help, but none were simple enough that I wouldn’t waste my time & energy just filling it in, nor did they address my need for flexible goals based on my energy level or ability. So, I spoke to some of my fellow spoonies & came up with this planner & Post-it Notes.

The SECRET to scheduling your spoons is to:

Keep things simple
List your tasks & rank your tasks: 1 spoon = doesn’t take much energy, ability, or just 1 or 2 steps to accomplish, to 5 spoons = takes a lot of steps, energy, or ability to do.
Prayerfully & mindfully assess how you are doing at the beginning & throughout your day.

What you will find in this planner:

· Guided Instructions & Examples: The 1st portion of this planner teaches you a new way to approach productivity by switching the paradigm of tasks first to energy and ability first, and tasks working around your body's needs instead of you serving an unyielding task master. (There is also a how-to video included in the introduction if you follow the QR code or check us out on YouTube.)

· OpenDyslexic Font: We chose this font because I (Amanda) struggle with dyslexia and have found this font to make reading much easier than many other fonts.

· Suitable for All Ages: Designed from teens to young adults to seniors whatever new stage of life you find yourself in.

· Weekly Bible Verses: We prayerfully picked each and every verse you will find in this planner. In hopes that each week you would be uplifted as you read it, and maybe even find a new favorite verse or passage.

· Tip of the Month: At the beginning of each month, we have included tips, tricks, and words of encouragement as you navigate the next 12 months.

· Resource Section: Includes tools for managing medications, doctor visits, spiritual growth, verses done by topic, and more!

Tablespoon Goals List Post-it Notes

Towards the top of this handy little list keeper, after the encouraging Bible verse, you will find a space to write your big 4-5 spoon task. What is a 4-5 spoon task? So glad you asked! It is a task that seems way too big to do in one sitting or in one day. Maybe that is laundry for you or cleaning the living room, or maybe you’re an ambitious spoonie who wants to launch a new product (like someone else we know lol). Now you may be wondering about what these spoon rankings are all about. These are tasks you rate by energy level, 1 being the lowest energy-ranked spoon, while 5 is the highest energy-ranked spoon. This list helps you take that big task and break it down into smaller, bite-sized pieces. For example, laundry: some days it might be pretty manageable, so you’d rank it at a 2 or 3-level spoon task, while other days it might feel overwhelming to do in one sitting, so for now it’s a 4 or 5-level spoon task, depending on your energy and ability levels. So, you would write in Laundry at the top of the list, in the “Spoon Goal” section. Now let's break it down into bite-sized pieces: Gather Laundry – maybe this is a 4-spoon task cause you need help to lift your heavy bag (or is it just mine that is overflowing?) Sort Laundry – maybe this is a 2-spoon task cause you can do that sitting down Load Laundry – maybe this is a 1-spoon task cause you just dump the basket in Dry Laundry – 1-spoon Sort Clean Laundry – 2-spoons Put away Laundry – 4-spoons you might even put some of it away over the course of the week, cause all that bending and twisting can be wearing. We hope this notepad not only helps you make your tasks a bit more manageable but also encourages you to embrace your day, honor your body's needs, and remember that God always has your back!
